Lemon Squeeze: The Benefits of Lemon Water

Like chocolate and peanut butter, lemon and water are just meant to be...

A hot cup of lemon water with mint is my favorite way to combat hectic Monday mornings, which after a relaxing weekend can seem that much more hectic.

Cue the "Someone's got a case of the Monday's" line from Office Space.

Not only is it refreshing, lemon water is loaded with health benefits:

1. It cleanses
According to NaturalNews.com, lemon water enhances enzyme function to stimulate the liver and helps flush out toxins.

2. It's energizing

By maximizing enzyme function and oxygenating the body, it rejuvenates your body. It also helps in reducing anxiety.

3. It's great for beautiful skin
Lemon water is a good source of Vitamin C and also repairs damaged skin cells. I can say with certainty that lemon water helps with the complexion and gives the skin a natural, radiant glow.

In the summer I love to drink lemon water over ice with plenty of fresh mint from my garden. However, during the colder months, I grab my favorite tea cup and pour 5 oz of hot water over the juice of a 1/3 of a lemon.

Do you drink lemon water?

(Mom's) Chicken Soup For The Soul

When you're feeling under the weather as I was this past week, I can't think of anything better than a soothing bowl of chicken soup.

Actually, homemade chicken soup made by mom may be the best remedy for a cold. I can't share the recipe (mainly because she doesn't follow a standard recipe) but I can tell you she uses plenty of fresh herbs and makes her own stock.

She also bakes a loaf of crusty french bread to serve along with it.

Chicken soup is one of those recipes everyone should have in their arsenal, and this recipe is the closest to my mom's.

What's your remedy when you're feeling under the weather?

Have Courage

Welcome to The Be(You)tiful Blog!

As the cold weather begins to set in, I thought it would be the perfect time to start my very first blog. I have always toyed with the idea of starting my own blog, but never had the courage to actually do it.

After much encouragement from my mom and contributing to the blog for my social media marketing class, I realized blogging isn't so daunting and decided to finally take the first step in creating my own.

So, I'm creating a space where I can share everything that I love and what inspires me with the world and encourage others to find beauty in themselves and everything around them.
